Coming Back To Ourselves

We begin this new round of meditations in the same way we begin every round of the Practice of Living Awareness, with a smile. This gesture is not about pushing happiness; a smile doesn’t always say, “all’s wonderful” or “everything is positive.” But what a smile does consistently express is presence. It does say, “I am here.”

Choosing to smile and choosing to meditate have this in common: they generate presence. With all that is unfolding in the world and in our collective human heart, your presence is valued and necessary. Today, we start things off by offering ourselves a smile, a bit of care, and a few moments of gentle peace, so that should the opportunity arise, we may offer it to another.
