
A child said What is the grass? fetching it to me with full hands;
How could I answer the child? I do not know what it is any more than he.
These lines from Walt Whitman’s Song of Myself reveal that experiences may be much richer than information. Can we be the knowing, rather than the knower or the known? Perhaps this question holds the key to this week’s theme: Ground of Being.
Nature provides much of the soundtrack for this meditation—clear and sweet birdsong. Can you simply be the listening?
