3b. Experiencing the Quietude

spicy-thai-curry-bowlJust as an Thai soup can only be experienced from making or ordering one, quietude can only be experienced when we give ourselves the opportunity. “Fair enough,” one says to oneself, but then no opportunity is given.

Yet, like the warmth and spices of a well-made Thai soup, the qualities of quietude and their benefits to body, mind, emotions, and well-being have to be ingested. And, that, my friends, means sitting down, shutting off, and feeling oneself breathe.

This meditation is just that. Once we get going, there is several minutes of silent conscious breathing. What might that offer you? Quietude, peace, gentleness, flow, and presence.
