“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
– Lao Tzu, author of Tao Te Ching
There’s great wisdom in the quote above; yet, as we look out onto the world, it’s evident that there is also a time to take a stand, to act, and to say, “No.” Time in meditation gives us an allotted time to allow, to acquiesce, and to simply be with reality as it is. Practicing both in their appropriate time-space is healthy and realistic.
Meditation also allows us to notice where we feel resistance to flow and where we feel open to it; it also offers us the opportunity to try out various responses to both.
Happy meditating.
