In everyday language, we talk a lot about “finding our center.” We say things like, “I feel off-center today,” or “I need to get centered before I respond.”
We may not realize it, but this is a very accurate description of how stability works in the body and mind. There is a literal, physical center to our posture and nervous system, and a felt, inner center to our emotional and mental life. When those centers line up, we experience something we might simply call balance.
In last week’s third meditation, we explored equanimity as ground—an inner steadiness that allows us to respond without being pulled dramatically to one side or the other. This week, we build upon that exploration by introducing a powerful esoteric idea: the Central Channel.
Happy meditating!
