Last week’s break signals that we are halfway through this round of meditations. Seven specific tools to work with in meditation lie behind us, and seven new tools to work with in meditation lie ahead of us.
And so, as we begin the eighth week of the Practice of Living Awareness, we find ourselves in the center—beautifully balanced between what was and what will be. In this particular moment, I can’t think of a more perfect place to reside! And really, is this not what meditation consistently invites us to notice? We are always here—between one moment and the next, between what has been and what has not yet come. The present moment is where life is actually happening. It is where the breath is. It is where awareness is. It is where we return, again and again, not because it’s wildly dramatic, but because it’s real.
As we begin this second half of our journey, perhaps there is no need to look too far behind us or too far ahead. Perhaps it is enough to acknowledge that we are here, in this moment, at this beautiful midpoint, and to let that be meaningful in and of itself. May it steady us. And may it welcome us in—to the living center of things.
Happy meditating!
