Smile

The body responds to a gentle breath in the same way most of us respond to a smile: with acceptance. We allow for it. We welcome it.

Nat King Cole sings, “Smile though your heart is aching, smile even though it’s breaking, when there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by.” His earnest invitation is to be present with life, gently accept it as-is, and “you’ll find that it’s still worth while… if you just smile.”

We’re not suggesting you become resigned to living with pain and heartache, or relinquish the desire to change and evolve. Acceptance, here, affirms a willingness to be with life exactly as it is in this moment. Bringing care and attention to what’s happening in the “now” creates a clear picture and allows for insight into what might be next… and if that’s simply the recognition that the next moment is different from the last, right on! Life itself is evolving! Join in!

May the smiles we have generated this week linger on and be received as an offering of our presence and our capacity to create space for goodness and hope.
