Just as weight training strengthens the body, meditation trains the mind. Does a regular gym routine boost your physical health? Absolutely. Can a steady meditation practice support your life in countless ways? Totally.
Why? Because the mind is where much of our suffering begins. Every meditation teaching comes back to one thing: getting to know the mind. Feeling stressed or anxious? That’s the mind at work. Wading through grief? Those waves rise from thoughts in the mind. Even love and joy—though felt in the heart and body—are shaped, registered, and carried by the mind.
Becoming familiar with the nature of the mind is one of the most reliable paths to freedom. Life will still have its ups and downs—that’s inevitable—but we gain clarity in how we respond.
In a way, getting to know the mind—directly—opens the door to creating the world you actually want to live in. And yes, it might even make your workouts better.
Happy meditating.
