What makes you smile? How do you feel when you do?
The sky makes me smile, as do leaves and children and snowflakes and wind. I smile with understanding a lot, grateful that something has context or meaning or purpose and that I recognize that.
Kindness makes me smile: giving it and receiving it. Helping others makes me smile as well as someone’s offer to help me. I smile when I drive my Prius and think about my nephew by marriage who served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. Then, I send my appreciation to the Iraqi and Afghani people because their lives were ruined and mine made easier.
What makes you smile? This meditation is happy and non-political. Give yourself the gift of your practice.
