You may remember the song from ‘Charlie Brown’: “Happiness is two kinds of ice-cream, finding your skate key….”. So often we strive for the elusive sense happiness, for more, better, bigger because that will make us happy. Well, we probably know from experience, and research is confirming, that the continual striving for happiness really doesn’t work, it actually increases the unhappiness quotient and can leave one feeling anxious, depressed and lonely. The song goes on to say: “Happiness is being alone every now and then, and happiness is coming home again”. Finding contentment in the moment, taking time to go within and be quiet for awhile, giving to others in some form of service or kindness or even a smile, that brings happiness. Let’s be present in this moment, and share that sense of contentment and happiness with others. “Happiness is anyone and anything at all that’s loved by you”. Let’s meditate.
